Think Positively and Save Money

Thinking positively can help you save money. When you focus on the blessings in your life rather than on the things you don’t feel that you can afford, you will naturally be happier and require less of the material things. Also, thinking positively may help you figure out creative solutions the next time you feel as though you need to acquire something expensive. We do our best thinking when we are in a positive emotional state. Here are some ways that you can think positively about being frugal and consequently save money. What Do You Think of “Habit Heroes”?

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida has teamed up with Disney to create something new at Epcot Center. It is an attraction called “Habit Heroes”. The insurer feels it is a fun way to give kids information about making healthy choices. Critics say that Habit Heroes is harmful to the mental health of kids who are overweight or obese. Disney World has been called “the happiest place on earth”. Lots of kids dream of being able to take a family vacation to Disney World, (which often includes a visit to Epcot Center as well). A new, controversial, attraction at … Continue reading

The Process of Change – Part 1

It is now the middle of January. This means that it is a good time to think about your New Year’s resolutions, if you made some for this year. Please note that I said “think about”, not “beat yourself up about”. If those well intentioned resolutions have fallen by the wayside, it is likely that there is something wrong with the resolution, not with you. The point of New Year’s resolutions is to inspire individuals to create positive change within their lives. Some resolutions have to do with career and business objectives, some with finances, health, family, and other areas … Continue reading

Positive Encouragement Can Help Kids With ADHD

Parents of children who have ADHD understand that there are no simple, quick, answers about how to help their child. Treatment for ADHD can include medication and behavior modification, and those things take time before they can become effective. What about trying some positive feedback? At least one researcher thinks it could help. Think for a moment about something you were working on that was difficult for you. It should be something that you didn’t find particularly fun, and that took a long time before you saw any results. For many people, this could describe a diet. Most people do … Continue reading

Positive Reinforcement and the Power of Distraction

I try very hard to be a positive reinforcement trainer with my dogs, and not a negative reinforcement. Some days it works better than others. When we’re out walking, I’ve got a constant stream of chatter going — encouragement and praise, mostly, though sometimes, I also just talk to them about what they’re doing. If the dogs are doing something right, I tell them. It’s when the dogs are doing something wrong that I sometimes run into trouble. Lally is generally easy to correct. A light tug on the leash or saying her name is enough to get her attention … Continue reading

Something Positive to Think About (2)

This is the second in a series of popular positive thoughts that will get you thinking about how you live your life, how your beliefs shape your life and suggestions to ponder on how you can change your own life for the better from some of the world’s greatest thinkers and philosophers. Most people spend more time and energy going around problems than in trying to solve them. Henry Ford The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem. Theodore Rubin Take calculated risks. That is quite different … Continue reading
